Congress

Welcome to the AIHV23 in Mainz
It is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to all those drawn to the rich and multifaceted world of glass. The 23rd International Congress of the Association Internationale pour l’Histoire du Verre (AIHV) will be held in the historic city of Mainz, Germany—a place that captures the essence of Gemütlichkeit like few others. Nestled at the threshold of the romantic Upper Middle Rhine Valley, Mainz serves as a gateway to this enchanting region known for its riverside charm, steep vineyards, and fairytale castles.
From 8 to 12 September 2025, the congress will take place at LEIZA, the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie, offering an ideal setting for cross-disciplinary exchange.
This is a unique opportunity to connect with researchers, curators, scientists, and scholars from around the world. Whether your focus is archaeology, art history, glass science, or the study of global glass collections, your contribution is most welcome—and we very much look forward to your presence.
Join us for a dynamic and illuminating exchange of ideas. We encourage you to share bold new projects, present innovative research, and engage in spirited dialogue with fellow experts from a wide range of fields.
To foster this spirit of collaboration and discovery, AIHV23 will take place exclusively on site, ensuring the richness of personal interaction remains at the heart of the experience.
